Video killed the radio stars...

Hmm... I dunno why but I've been feeling very retro-ish recently. My daily dose of internet surfing will never fail to include downloading songs from the 80's and I love listening Class 95. But my boss likes to switch the radio in the lab to 98.7(!!!) and I would always reprimand him for being 'beng-ish' (he admits liking techno music) while switching the radio back to Class 95... haha!

What's my point here? Well, in my humble opinion, the music nowadays is getting so bad that I dun even feel like listening to them...call me stick in the mud, but I still think that the music in the past is of better quality than today. These days, those so-called rock groups sound so alike that I can't tell one from another! And the boybands n gal bands are popping out from nowhere faster than you say 'help'... Argh! Except for a few bands like Matchbox Twenty and Jars of Clay, there ain't much good music around... *sigh!*

Why? Why? Tell me why? Why u so like dat?!

Why are u so insensitive to other people's feelings except your own?
Why are you so niao (stingy)?
Why does your jokes(that's what you claim!) suck so much that I can't even comprehend or laugh at them?
Why are you so uptight and serious about everything (including an exposed bra strap)?
Why are you so tactless?
Why are you so selfish, always thinking for yourself only?
Why do I ever bother try talking to you(you claim everyone's ignoring you) when you don't even bother listening to me?

~Meow! & Woofs!~

Went to the Metta Cattery for the second time yesterday... hee! Although it was tiring, I had great fun painting the logo on the main wall. I'll say I did a good job (wahaha! the ego-monster is out again!) and thanks to Fang, her suggestions to add paw prints made the end product looked even nicer. I brought my digi-cam but it was out of battery (bummer!), so no pixxies for you guys to see...

I was even more delighted to be able to take one of the dogs, Mango, for a walk. It seemed absurd to have four people (that's Fang, Val, my bro and I) walking just one dog, but I can sense that Mango was elated to move around a bigger area and leaving his mark (with his pee) on almost every tree he came across. However, it's this simple act of granting Mango a memontary escape from the confined areas of the cattery that makes me feel that it's worth the time and effort to help out at the cattery. It's the same with the cats, the expressions on their faces and meows tell you that they appreciate your company and efforts in trying to help them out...

I really admire Siew Ying (the main PIC of the cattery) for her tireless and endless efforts of bringing better lives to the cats and rescuing those that need help. She even mentioned to me that her most important things in life is firstly the cats and dogs, the cattery and finally her son. Some people may criticise her for placing her son in third place, but I beg to differ. I believe the sequence is not important and it only goes to show how gracious she is; to be able to appreciate all things great and small. The frequent mention of her son while conversing with her also tells me that she is really proud of her son and loves him very much (despite placing him in third lar...haha!)

As much as I love to keep a dog or a cat, I do not really have the confidence (besides the objections from my mum) to be able to bring comfort to it. But at least I hope that by volunteering at the cattery, I can do my bit part in bringing comfort and love to these lovely creatures...

Flying without wings...

Hisashiburi minnasan! Moi neber write my for a looooong time already... was actually too lazy(70%) and tired(30%) to make any updates on my bloggy.

Well, it was an eventful day for me... it's my first day going solo! Yes! No supervisor included! Ha ha! Actually, my supervisor was on leave (he's trying desperately to clear his leave lest the company kapok it), so that explains my solo act today. And that also explains the title of this blog, "Flying without wings" and nope, I'm definitely not talking about the horrible remake of a terrible song by Ruben Studdard. Well, literally speaking, it's dangerous to fly without wings(DUH!), thus it was REALLY dangerous of my supervior to leave me on my own( gotta give him credit for such courage lar). On the other hand, all these freedom I'm getting (though 1 day only) does make me feel like flying without wings, less inhibition and all...

Anyway, I think I'm jinxed. Early into the morning, I was getting one of my systems ready for my colleague when it broke down (it was still working very well the day before!!). It certainly wasn't a pretty sight with tubings flying all around, shooting solvent everywhere and a hysterical me was chasing all these mad flying tubings. ARGGHHH! And being a real ego monster, I refused to call my supervisor for help until 2 hours later and it wasn't exactly easy to follow instructions from a phone. I almost fell like fainting from all this ordeal (the actual fact was that I was very hungry... ahaha!). But I bet my supervisor didn't really enjoy his day off since I was bugging him like every half an hour... haha!

But luckily, my engineer happened to come over to replace some parts for my system and I asked him for help. I say he's a pro, man. He told me he had no experience in troubleshooting the system, but he could actually teach me how to troubleshoot it... Argh! Makes me feel ashame of my mediocre skills... *sigh!* But I'm real glad the system is finally up and running... hee! Thanks, Surej!

All in all, I've learnt a great deal from the ordeal(haha! like I have gone thru lotsa hardship like dat) and I think I deserved a pat on my back! Yeah! And now back to watching Amazing Race...

P.S: Anyone want to go to WOMAD with moi?
